Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 8, 2026

Docent Brewing (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at docentbrewing.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that information.

We do not use advertising pixels, behavioral tracking, or analytics services. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

1. Information you provide

We collect only the information you voluntarily provide through the Site’s contact forms. This may include:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number (if provided)
  • The content of your message or inquiry

We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list or marketing database without your explicit consent.

2. Automatically collected information

Like all web servers, our hosting provider (WP Engine) automatically records standard server log data when you visit the Site. This includes:

  • Your IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Pages visited and time of visit
  • Referring URL

This data is retained by WP Engine for security and operational purposes in accordance with their privacy policy. We do not access or analyze this data for marketing or tracking purposes.

3. Cookies

The Site uses only strictly necessary cookies. These include:

  • Session cookies required to maintain your browsing session while on the Site
  • An age-verification cookie that remembers your response to the 21+ age gate for the duration of your browser session. This cookie contains only a pass/fail flag — no personal information is stored within it.

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, tracking pixels, or any cookies that monitor your behavior across other websites. Because we use only strictly necessary cookies, no cookie consent banner is required under applicable law.

You may instruct your browser to refuse all cookies. Note that doing so may affect the functionality of some portions of the Site, including the age gate.

4. Third-party services

The Site uses the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy independent of Docent Brewing.

Web fonts

All web fonts used on this Site (Barlow Condensed and Jost) are self-hosted on our own server at docentbrewing.com. No requests are made to fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com, or any other third-party font delivery network when you visit this Site. Your browser downloads fonts directly from our server only.

Google Maps

Our location pages (San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, and Carlsbad) embed interactive maps provided by Google Maps. When a map loads, your browser makes a direct request to Google’s servers, which may transmit your IP address and browser information to Google. We do not control this data transfer. Google’s privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

AccessiBe

We use AccessiBe to provide website accessibility features for users with disabilities. The AccessiBe widget loads a script from acsbapp.com and retrieves a configuration file from cdn.acsbapp.com. AccessiBe may collect certain technical information about your browser and interaction with the accessibility widget. AccessiBe’s privacy policy is available at accessibe.com/privacy-policy.

WP Engine (hosting)

Our Site is hosted on WP Engine’s managed WordPress infrastructure, which processes server log data as described in Section 2. WP Engine’s privacy policy is available at wpengine.com/legal/privacy.

Toast (gift cards)

Our gift card link navigates to Toast’s website (toasttab.com). Clicking this link takes you off our Site entirely. Toast operates under its own privacy policy and we have no control over data collected there.

5. How we use your information

We use the personal information you provide through contact forms only to:

  • Respond to your inquiry or request
  • Fulfill any reservation or service request you have made
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making.

6. Data retention

Contact form submissions are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and for a reasonable follow-up period. Server log data is retained by WP Engine in accordance with their data retention policies.

7. Data security

The Site is hosted on WP Engine’s secure infrastructure with SSL/TLS encryption for all data in transit. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information you submit.

8. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Know: You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to Delete: You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Correct: You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so no opt-out is required for those activities.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 11. We will respond to verified requests within 45 days as required by law.

9. Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for users who are 21 years of age or older, consistent with our age-gate requirement. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 21. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately and we will delete that information.

10. Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
